I've designed countless things over the years: books, magazines, newspaper pages, posters, campaigns... There were some that I loved, and others I wasn’t as crazy about because they were tailored to specific requests.
This book of Deniz Nalu Oguz, which I’ve professionally designed, is very special and very different. It’s filled with the amazing poems of someone small in size but with a huge heart. I'm happy to be part of this project. Oh, and the note written just for me during the signing—it was so meaningful, I left my heart there. Her book, which contains 74 poems and illustrations drawn specially for them, was published in dedication to someone very special. "Poetry From a Butterfly’s Niece"
Young artist dear Deniz Nalu Oguz is involved in many art forms. She writes, paints, plays the harp... May young people like her fill the world. Thanks to you, may the healing power of art spread to the universe. I wholeheartedly congratulate you and your family, who gifted such a beautiful heart to the world. Let’s applaud your future successes.
Meral Bıcakçı / Art Director of Deniz Nalu Oguz’s Books

I am a freelance writer, journalist, curator based in İstanbul, Turkiye. I am a long time family friend of the Oguz family. I’ve known Deniz Nalu since she was born. I was asked to write a recommendation letter by her parents and I am thrilled to do so.
I got to spend quite a bit of time with Nalu for the last three years. She first approached to me about her project to bring all her poems together and turn it into a poetry book. She has also art work done for some of them. She decided to work on it as a school Project under the guidance of her English teacher.
We had few meetings in İstanbul during her visit. I introduced her to grafic designer, Merak Bıcakcı, who then asked her details about her projects. Nalu had everything planned in her head. She knew exactly how she wanted to move with her book. She selected her poems and started with editing them, dating them, naming the locations, matching the drawings and pictures. She picked up colors and layout. She was very detail oriented leaving no room for careless mistakes. She was only 14 and I was so impressed by her work ethics.
Two years later, she had another book on her mind. This time she wanted to create a story about her mom’s journey after losing her sister. She started it as a school Project for her communication class. She wrote it so beautifully and wanted to illustrate it herself. Before she could find the perfect image, she itirated multiple times to get the final version she was satisfied with. She used Microsoft Bing AI and got an amazing result. Though she still wishes to do the illustration herself for the next edition.
Elif Nazlı Duran / Editor of Deniz Nalu Oguz’s Books

I met Deniz when she was very young. Even at that age, she stood out with her incredible openness and sharp perceptions. As she grew older, she continued to develop herself, maturing and evolving day by day. The times we spent painting together were not only fun but also inspiring; her relationship with colors, her understanding of lines, and her artistic skills were always impressive. Even in her childhood, I could feel that she had the soul of a great artist and carried an immense energy of love within her.
Deniz is a rare talent who can easily transition between different disciplines within the art of painting. She masterfully combines her linear expertise with her ability to use colors, while also nourishing herself by being deeply interested in other branches of art. From sculpture to music, photography to literature, her curiosity for various art forms has always propelled her forward. Now, the time has come for her to share this immense potential and creative energy with a wider audience. I wholeheartedly believe that her enchanting artistic journey will reach many more people.
Ferhan Atalay / Art Tutor

"We met with Nalu in 2023, while she was looking for a piano tutor and we connected almost instantly. Her energy and creativity have sparked my own adventures in writing music and we've completed quite a few, on the spot, musical like songs. I am hoping that we will stay in touch and get to work together in the future, as I'm sure she will remain fascinating to work with."

Deniz's dedication and emotions towards this Project (Where is My Daffodil? – First Edition – Tin Version) as a graphic designer deeply moved me. As a heartfelt tribute to her beloved aunt, who is also a dear colleague of mine, she has written a beautiful book that captures the essence of their special bond and the profound impact her aunt had on everyone who knew her. This project became a labor of love, blending deep emotions with disciplined creativity, allowing us to explore memories and experiences that resonate with both of us. The result is a touching piece and a unique personal project that serves as a lasting tribute, celebrating an extraordinary life and the enduring connection between a niece and her aunt. This book, a testament to the power of love and remembrance, reveals the beauty that can emerge from inspiration. It has received heartfelt praise; the warmth of the memories shared has brought both smiles and tears, creating a space for healing and connection among those who loved and cherished her aunt’s memory. Deniz's commitment to storytelling was evident, and I am confident that the creativity she brought to our team will be reflected in the book.
